The theme of this column is treatment of ant. crossbite using MEAW. MEAW is short for multi-loop edgewise wire and is a wire with multiple shoe hooks. MEAW has both stiffness and elasticity, helping to effectively move teeth. Ant. crossbite is difficult to treat with orthodontic treatment alone. In general, surgical correction is preferred. If the CR guide is guided to the edge bite, bite jumping may be considered with orthodontic treatment alone. MEAW can be quite helpful for this. Placing a MEAW in the mandible and applying Class III elastics are useful. The consideration is that this type of treatment is treated by openi…
This is my newly published paper. It is an Open Access Journal. Please click a link above to download full article. It is the latest knowledge about diagnosis using artificial intelligence in orthodontics. Thank you.
This is a superimposition of patient using bionator appliance. You can see the pattern when the removable growth control device is used. You can see the mandible growing forward with the posterior movement of the maxillary anterior teeth. Therefore, overcoming the difference between maxilla and mandible is maximized. p.s. Retraction with mini-screws tends to cause intrusion. (especially with vertical vector.) As can be seen in the case above, the posterior intrusion causes the mandibular counterclockwise rotation. This results in forward movement of the tip of the jaw and maximizes the aesthetic improvement of patients who tend to protrude. Dramatic changes can be observed in precision superimposition using Webceph. Has anyone experienced this when retraction with mini-screws?
Today, I will discuss about interproximal reduction. Patients are often reluctant to extract their teeth. In that case, one of the options you can choose is interproximal reduction. However, it is not clear how much interproximal reduction will improve the protrusion problem of the patient. We looked closer into this issue through WebCeph’s precision superimposition feature. Interproxiaml reduction was performed and spaces were closed with the help of mini-screw. Though not comparable to extractions, we confirmed some degree of protrusion reduction. The change in incisor inclination observed through WebCeph analysis was about 10 degrees in …
There is a miscellaneous tip that I want to share today. Occasionally, depending on the monitor environment or the computer environment, WebCeph is not displayed at the proper resolution. In that case, press the setting as shown in the picture above, and adjust the zoom to 80 ~ 90%. Then, you can comfortably use WebCeph on the full screen. I hope it will be a helpful tip. :-)
