profilogram

takao minamidate

...

Even though the scale is adjusted properly, the standard of profilogram often deviates significantly. How can this be displayed on the correct scale?

WebCeph Manager

Dear Dr. Takao. Thanks for letting us know the problem. We will check whether the template size is matched with the average value for the age.

WebCeph Manager

Dr. Takao. Thanks for the good question. We have reviewed the part of your inquiry. Upon review, it is confirmed that the average profilogram (solid blue line) is set to match the set average value of age and gender (eg, 69.35 millimeters for an adult female). In the image you uploaded, the anterior cranial base length(S-Na distance) is calculated to be about 64 millimeters, and it appears to be displayed correctly by comparing it with the average profilogram (69.35 millimeters). Since the feature of adjusting the scale of the profilogram is provided, I hope that it will help you to make a correct diagnostic judgment by adjusting the scale if necessary. The average value of WebCeph analysis was established based on the results of a study on the average skeletal and dental population. However, if the set average value itself seems to be wrong, and if you could send us an appropriate and better reference, it will be a great help in improving our service. Thanks again for the good question. Doctor.

thank you for your reply. The most up-to-date and popular standard value for Japanese cephalo analysis is the standard value in this paper. t.ly/LEPB Only the most important tables will be translated and uploaded here. https://www.dropbox.com/t/MztEq6lb5KyTkkJI We would appreciate it if you could refer to it and at least correct the standard values for Japanese or Asian adult men and women. By the way, isn't there a deviation of profilogram like this in the analysis of Koreans? Please let me know if you have any other necessary materials. Thank you.

WebCeph Manager

Thank you for sending us a very valuable reference data. Currently, in WebCeph, racial classification is represented in four categories: Asian, Caucasian, African, and Hispanic. It seems necessary to compare how much the difference between the Asian value of the current WebCeph and the Japanese value is. I think we might need to add a separate option of Japanese population. We will try to find an interface that can properly reflect it to WebCeph. Thank you so much for your support and help. Dr. Takao.

Basically, the distance measurement is generally 1.1 times the value published in the literature. If you compare the measured values at 1.0 times, there will be a deviation by that amount. Is it possible to reconfirm this point whether the set standard value is 1.1 times or 1.0 times? The behavior of this part is very different from other cephalo analysis software (winceph) that I usually use. Thank you.

Your question is a very useful question. As you said, the magnification of the Cephalometric device is known to be 110%. However, since the position of the ruler used for image size calibration is also located on the mid-sagittal plane where the head is located, I understand that the 110% magnification of the anatomical structure of the head is equally applied to the ruler, either. Therefore, in the case of direct measurement using a ruler in the analog cephalometric image, magnification correction is required for measured values, but it is known that additional 110% magnification correction is not required when calibrating is performed using a ruler in the image. I will look for more related literature. If my understanding is not correct, please let me know, anytime. Thank you very much for the many support.

Thank you. I agree with you. In webceph's the size calibration, if the 10-scaled red measure is exactly aligned with the cephalogram measure, is it correct that webceph is measuring the length of the line, assuming that the length of the 10-red scales is 11mm?

WebCeph Manager

Dear. Dr. Takao. If the real length of the ruler implanted in the Cephalometric device is 10mm, it seems appropriate to calibrate it assuming that the length of the ruler the corresponding 10mm. Thank you for having a meaningful discussion with us.

takao minamidate

In the case of analog tracing and measuring the length of the line, the reference value is referred to as the length of 1.1 times without changing it back from 1.1 times to 1.0 times. As far as I have read in the literature, the length to be measured is the length magnified by 1.1 times and used as the reference value. In many cases, the published standard values are also expressed as 1.1 times the length.

how to set incisor height

takao minamidate

Does anyone know how to set incisor height ?
incisor heght=distance of U1 to ANS-PNS Perpendicular.
thank you

WebCeph Manager

Dear Dr. Takao. Thanks for asking. In the measurement wizard, by setting measurement type as 'distance_A_BC' and select 'U1IncisalTip' for Point A, 'ANS' for Point B, and 'PNS' for Point C, you can measure the incisor height. I sent you a screenshot of the measurement wizard page. I hope it help you. Thank you so much. Doctor.

thank you ! I'll try it. I wondered if it's correct, because It doesn't say perpendicular... and it does in others.

WebCeph Manager

My pleasure. Hope it all works fine.😄

takao minamidate

it does wok well! thank you!!

dawa_marchik

Hi! Where can I find Beta angle? Beta=90-(AB line; perpendicular from point A to occlusal plane)

WebCeph Manager

Thanks for the question. Beta angle is not supported as a default measurement in the measurement library of WebCeph. Since the measurement type of Beta angle is not a general type, we will find a way to support it. Thank you. Doctor.

Translation

takao minamidate

Hello. Some Japanese translations are weird in the ceph analysis and the results. Would you please let me correct and translate them into more natural Japanese?

WebCeph Manager

We are really grateful for your help. If you let us know the page with the wrong translation, the original English text, and the revised Japanese translation, we will quickly reflect it. (admin@assemblecircle.com) We sincerely thank you for your help. Hope you are always healthy. Happy New Year.

takao minamidate

sure, i'll send you it later. thank you!

Ceph analysis

takao minamidate

Is it possible to export my original set of cephalometric analyses and share them with others?

WebCeph Manager

Thanks for asking. The function you mentioned is planned to be developed as an additional function of WebCeph in the future. We plan to allow users to create their own methods or measurements and share them with their colleagues. We will notify you when it is released. Thanks for using WebCeph.

takao minamidate

thank you for your positive comment. I'm still hesitant to use it clinically because the standard values differ depending on the race. If you can develop it as soon as possible, I would like to make the set of the standard values for Japanese, and work widely to popularize it through Jananese orthodontists and dentists. Your project and product are so wonderful!! I appreciate it. Thank you.

WebCeph Manager

Dr. Takao. Your sweet words really give our team a lot of power. Due to the limited development resources, the function of sharing custom measurement values among users has not been developed yet. If the planned functions are developed according to the plan, we will try to add those functions as well. Thank you so much for your encouragement.
