[Column.5] Effect of MEAW treatment with anterior crossbite

The theme of this column is treatment of ant. crossbite using MEAW.
MEAW is short for multi-loop edgewise wire and is a wire with multiple shoe hooks.
MEAW has both stiffness and elasticity, helping to effectively move teeth.
Ant. crossbite is difficult to treat with orthodontic treatment alone.
In general, surgical correction is preferred.
If the CR guide is guided to the edge bite, bite jumping may be considered with orthodontic treatment alone.
MEAW can be quite helpful for this.
Placing a MEAW in the mandible and applying Class III elastics are useful.
The consideration is that this type of treatment is treated by opening the mandible.
The labioversion of the maxillary anterior teeth, the linguoversion of the mandibular anterior teeth,
and the opening of the mandibular angles are common patterns of this treatment.

전치부 반대교합은 교정치료만으로 치료하기 어려운 치료입니다.
일반적으로 수술교정이 선호됩니다.
CR guide 유도시 edge bite까지 유도되는 경우 교정치료로 bite jumping을 고려해볼 수 있습니다.
이때 MEAW 는 꽤 도움이 될 수 있습니다.
하악에 MEAW를 넣고 Class III el.을 검으로써 전치부 반대교합을 넘기는 시도를 할 수 있습니다.
이때 고려사항으로는 이런식의 치료는 하악각을 열리게 함으로써 치료가 된다는 점입니다.
상악전치의 순측경사, 하악전치의 설측경사, 하악각의 open이 이런 치료의 일반적인 패턴입니다.

It is effective because the MEAW allows individual tooth movement more than straight wire. Thanks~^^
